Hey there come on in and let us go on a coon hunt with the greatest coon hounds I ever went to the woods with. your text.
This is Dangerous Dan but he was called Dan. Dan was the best tree dog I ever owned once he treed you  had to go to him.
No matter what he would not leave his tree.I have shot coons out from a tree not 25 feet away and he would just tree harder.
I bought him from a good friend of mine who met an untimely death by the hands of a couple  deliquents.
Dan was a registered Treeing Walker out of  Michigan.
Here is Big John he was out of Gillespie Star Lady by Dan.There are several night champions in his blood line.
Also he was a silent trailer next to Dan, John was the best tree dog I
ever owned.
John learned all he knew by hisself as Star died when he ws just a few months old , and Dan died Christmas day in Johns first year.
That ws my first experience with heart worms.

John was just a few months old when he treed his first coon .That blasted coon walked right down the tree and jumped on him .From that day on he had a hate for coons that just would not quit.
Once while hunting in a state game preserve I had Dan stolen right off the tree.
If he had a fault that was it I never had a problem with him running trash he was a coon hound all the way.
Also once you got your coon and if he was not treeing all you had to do was yell for him and he was right there
Just hope I havent bored you and wanted to add coon hunters do it all night.Yep I have hunted all night and worked the next day. Also coon hunters will do anything to get to their dogs. I have waded rivers and cant swim a lick but there is nothing to compare with a good dog on the tree.
As I have grown older and because of things in life that made it impossible for me to hunt. I must add that some of the best memories in life are  of the times I spent in the woods .

Old Shep

When I was a lad
And old Shep was a pup
Over hills and meadows we'd stray
Just  a boy and his dog
We were both full of fun
We grew up together that way

I remember the time at the old swimmin' hold
When I would have drowned beyond doubt
But old Shep was right there
To the rescue he came
He jumped in and then pulled me out

As the years fast did roll
Old Shep he grew old
His eyes were fast growing dim
And one day the doctor looked at me and said
I can do no more for him Jim

With hands that were trembling
I picked up my gun
And aimed it at Shep's faithful head
I just couldnt do it
I wanted to run
I wish they would shoot me instead

He came to my side
And looked up at me
And laid his old head on my knee
I had struck the best friend that a man ever had
I cried so I scarcely could see

Old Shep he has gone
Where the good doggies go
And no more with old Shep will I roam
But if dogs have a heaven
There's one thing I know
Old Shep has a wonderful home
